This type of cosmetic damage can appear on bumpers, wing mirrors and body panels.  In some cases scratches and scuffs can be polished out and this type of repair is the most cost effective way to remove the damage. 

If the damage is too deep, the affected area has to be masked, sanded down, re-sprayed with paint and lacquer, left to dry and then flattened and polished.  If necessary the next panel can be blended to obtain a perfect colour match.
