Wheel alignment – otherwise known as tracking – ensures that your wheels are set to the correct direction and angle. Wheel alignment is important as misaligned wheels can affect the handling of your vehicle, and affect the wear on your tyres, reducing their lifespan.

Wheel alignment is often disrupted after hitting a pothole or kerb, but it can be impacted by general wear and tear too, so it is important to have your wheel alignment checked regularly.

Common symptoms of poorly aligned wheels include:

• Uneven tyre wear
  • Tyre toe in – refers to tyres that are worn more on the outer side, meaning that the wheel is angled towards the vehicle, and therefore the wheel needs alignment
  • Tyre toe out – refers to tyres that are worn more on the inner side, meaning that the wheel is angled away from the vehicle, and therefore the wheel needs alignment
• Poor handling
  • Vehicle pulling to one side, particularly when braking
  • Steering wheel is off-centre
  • Vibrations through the steering wheel
