YOUR ONE STOP WORKSHOP FOR CAMBELTS AND TIMING BELTS

WHAT IS A CAMBELT OR TIMING BELT?

Whether you call it a timing belt or a cambelt, this part of your vehicle’s engine is one of the most important components. It’s a wide rubber belt that is placed inside the car’s engine to keep the camshaft and crankshaft moving in sync. In doing so, the cambelt prevents the components of the top half of the engine (valves and cylinder head) from interfering with those of the bottom half (pistons and crankcase) and vice versa. As such, it is an essential item, and needs replacing at specified intervals.

HOW MUCH DOES A TIMING BELT OR CAMBELT REPLACEMENT COST?

In September 2025, the average price of a new timing belt or cambelt replacement was £477, however this can vary due to a number of factors.

At Mr Clutch Autocentres, we operate a Fixed Price Cambelt Replacement Schedule based on your engine size and number of cams. The cost for replacement cambelts supplied and fitted is included within the table below:

Engine Size Single Cam Twin Cam Four Cam
up to 1300cc £344.95 £374.95 £409.95

  • WATER PUMP & ANTI-FREEZE
  • Cambelts are an essential part of your vehicle and not replacing them upon the manufacturer's recommended guidelines can result in serious damage to your vehicle's engine. At Mr Clutch, we are keen to help you avoid huge repair bills cause by cambelt failure.

  • We operate a Fixed Price Cambelt Schedule based on your engine size and the number of cams. Most vehicles will commonly have a twin cam, however, we are happy to inspect your vehicle to determine the number of cams.

  • On most Cambelts it is recommended to have a new water pump, this of course comes at extra cost.

  • We would recommend having Anti-Freeze change due to flush, drain and refill.
